Arty journeys...

LITTLE ARTY JOURNEYS . . . LOOKING CLOSER, SEEING DEEPER.

Another little frosty journey

Coombe Wood again - blue sky but very cold with a heavy very frost that glittered in the sunlight (I do like a bit of sparkle).
Jerusalem sage with frosty stars
Frost on concrete
Frost on wild carrot seed head
Not sure what this plant is but it had clusters of ice crystals on it.
Frosty leaf in the sunlight
The gardener, who is used to seeing me around the gardens taking photos, called me over to see some unusual ice structures which he had noticed. I've never seen anything like these before and didn't even know they existed. I had passed them by earlier thinking they were little petals among the cut off plant stems.
I would have missed them if the gardener hadn't drawn my attention to them, They were tiny little fragile ice structures, which I found out later are frost flowers.

You can find out more about frost flowers here if you're interested in how they're formed.

  1. Such lovely sparkly photos yet again Angela, and I especially like those frost flowers. I've not heard of them before, so now I want a frosty morning so that I can go and search some out too!

    1. Thank you Cath. I will certainly be looking closer in future if there is frost and I think I can see petals among cut off stems of plants!
