Arty journeys...

LITTLE ARTY JOURNEYS . . . LOOKING CLOSER, SEEING DEEPER.

Silhouettes and snowdrops (Coombe Wood)

The sunrise looked good this morning. I'd been thinking of a Boxing Day walk and I've always wanted to see a sunrise at Coombe Wood so I headed off early.  The sunrise was looking good as I got into the car.

I arrived just before 8am. There was very little of the sunrise to see when I arrived though because the area is too low and the hills and tall thick trees blocked most of the view of the sunrise.

I spent most of the time on this walk looking up at the trees and the patterns the different branches create against the sky - as it wasn't very bright yet most of the branches were silhouettes.

A pink cloud behind the pine needles.

A bit more of the sunrise behind the trees.

Beech nuts.

If I hadn't gone to see how much the little patch of snowdrops has grown I wouldn't have noticed these tiny fragile mushrooms, which are so well camouflaged as they peep through the bark path, decaying leaves and pine needles.

Snowdrops.

More mushrooms.

 Berries and blue sky.

More snowdrops pushing through.

I was fascinated by how the view of the fish is sometimes obscured by the reflections on the pond.

On the way home I stopped to photograph some spheres of mistletoe - clearly visible now that all the leaves have fallen. I need to stop to look at another tree further on with even more mistletoe in it.

Thank you very much for joining me.
