Coombe Wood walk Tuesday. Part 3: Alliums and poppies

Although the first flush of neat purple alliums with tightly packed petals has finished there are new bigger and shaggier alliums opening up. The bees love them.

I like the way they lean into each other and the surrounding plants grow through them and show through their more open structure from behind and underneath.

There's a lovely patch of huge very bright poppies

with ragged edged petals...

and wonderful variety in their shapes as they open.

and the seed heads....beautiful!

There are some much smaller yellow Californian poppies too.

with fascinating middles!

Looking back at that bright red poppy patch.

More alliums.

Wonderful crazy colour combinations

Thank you very much for joining me. (Yes there is still more to come.)
