Looking closer at some contrasting textures. How amazing that leaves have such different forms and colours!
Raindrops on hairy Alchemilla mollis (Ladie's mantle) leaves
Alchemilla mollis buds.
Silk tree leaves unfolding and proof that there was some blue sky yesterday!
Gorgeous acer.
It's amazing how many different colours and shapes of winged seeds there are. These are such a strong red and their "wings" are outstretched. (More about winged seeds to come later.)
Allium seed heads flattened by the reent downpours..
Almost luminous mounds of grass.
Huge Crown Imprerial Fritillary seed pods.
Quaking grass.
I love their tiny shapes!
Little tree with huge leaves.
More red winged seeds but this tree has darker leaves than the previous one.
And this one, a little further along has white winged seeds that are not so spread out - more of a V shape.
Some standing up on their stems rather than hanging like many others.
I love the structure of the Korean pine cones.
Isn't it incredible!
Another acer - with differnt shaped red winged seeds and the wings much closer together.
Pale green winged seeds on this one.
These wings seem to have slightly wavy edges
Candyfloss tree.
Candyfloss leaves turning redder.
Crazy new growth on the Australian Pine
The older "needles" are so organised whereas the new ones are quite unruly!
Masses of winged seeds in clusters.
More contrasts - the creamy colour in the middle is the cornus bracts.
Winged seeds - red and pale green.
While peering at a couple of almost invisible big dark fish swimming I suddenly noticed damselflies darting here and there.
Some actually settled long enough for me to get a photo (or two, or three.......or more!)
Thank you very much for joining me. There's more to come!
I am working out of order, starting with part 2... love the dragonflies; and you're right about the acers, so varied! off to part 1 now...
