Arty journeys...

LITTLE ARTY JOURNEYS . . . LOOKING CLOSER, SEEING DEEPER.

Coombe Wood (Monday Morning)

I'm very glad I went for a walk this morning when the sun was shining and there were only a few little drops of rain. We've had thunder and torrential rain on and off this afternoon!

I stood by the pond for a while watching dragonflies and damselflies flitting too and fro. It wasn't exactly peace and quiet -though - the police stopped a passing car at the entrance and breathalysed the driver. The driver was presumably OK because the police car left and the breathalysed person drove away.

Each time I visit I think the flower beds near the entrance can't get any more full but everything is still growing.

A dragonfly landed on a leaf nearby.

Others flew back and forth teasing me! I took a lot of blurred photos. This was the best - there is a flying dragonfly in the middle.

These ferns have put on a growth spurt - must be all the rain we've had.

Silk tree flowers. Many more buds waiting to open.

Wonderful rich tapestry of colours in the prairie beds.

Sedum flowers coming out - and a happy bee.

The lovely combination of echinaceas and thalictrums again.

I love these bubbly flowers.

Bee poised for take off.

In flight they look a bit like kangaroos with those long legs dangling!

Echinaceas - and bees.

Morning glory and a closer look at the luminous middle.

Poppies.

More echinaceas.

A cluster of poppies and loads more buds.

Callicarpa flowers (above) and buds (below)

Looking closer at the flowers.

Berries.

Flowers, berries and buds all next to each other.

A little group of cyclamens

Acer seeds.

Candyfloss tree leaves sunlit and shadowy

Spindleberries.

There's a gardener in the border deadheading flowers. He isn't the usual one he's having some very well earned time off.

Looking into the border.

More sedums.

Around the corner. Although they are past their best I love the deep purples of the clematis and morning glory next to each other.

Morning glory bud - a lovely swirl at the top.

Colourful beds near the entrance.

Flying stripy insect about to land.

Sunlit pink flowers

Pausing by the pond to admire the dragonflies acrobatics.

There's a dragonfly in both of these pictures - can you see them?

I've just found out that it's World Photography day today. Every day is a photography day for me!
Thank you very much for joining me.

    1. Aren't they unusual...they're another flower that looks almost luminous.
