Arty journeys...

LITTLE ARTY JOURNEYS . . . LOOKING CLOSER, SEEING DEEPER.

Coombe Wood - bursting with colour (Monday 29th April)

A walk with a friend.

Just inside the gate. Tulips looking fabulous!

Gorgeous on a smaller scale - bluebells and white flowers - lovely simple combination.

Ceanothus close up. Pinky buds - segments opening into a riot of blue.

Azaleas - the whole "tree" has turned a soft lilac colour.

Bluebell buds peeping through a waterfall of slender acer leaves.

Leaf pattern.

Acer, bluebells and tulips.

Small tulips with egg yolk yellow middles.

Acer with loads of flowers.

Alliums opening - honesty in the background.

I love alliums so here we are looking closer.

closer

and even closer at the tentacle-like stamens.

Stepping back to see the wider view.

Judas tree - every branch covered in blossom.

Wider view again - echoes of purple and pink dotted around - honesty in the foreground, alliums to far right and two Judas trees in the distance in the centre.

Has this been pruned too harshly? Unlikely - but there's no sign of new growth yet.

 Another delicate acer with flowers.

Arching stems dripping with white blossom.

Oak inflorescences. (Made me wonder how acorns form? Good old Google! Very interesting.)

Lily of the valley. (I was delighted when I found out that we have some in our new garden.)

I love the deep red acer against the pale gree foliage in the background.

Falling camellias creating a carpet of pink.

Scented yellow azaleas.

Big rhododendrons.

Ferns uncurling among the oniony/garlicky scented plants.

Another acer (I do love acers!)

I thought I was looking at acer flowers hanging beneath the leaves but...

looking closer I could see that the winged seeds were already forming on this acer.

Funny little pom pom flower.

Tiny pastel pink blossom

Bleeding hearts (Lamprocapnos spectabilis - I think)

I think this is a philadelphus coronarius - mock orange.

Back past the tulips, heading for the cafe.

Interesting mix of pinks, and horizontal and vertical lines

The gardener was watering.

Still heading for the cafe!

Hops growing fast.

A hopeful visitor to our table.

One of the staff brought some flapjack crumbs to the table.  We lingered chatting while our little visitor flew happily back and forth. It didn't stay long each visit - plenty of photos were taken just too late!

Heading for the gate - just one last photo......

Ha ha! Can't do just one last photo - had to take a couple more!

Thank you very much for joining me.
