Almost all of the flower beds in the section near the gate have been cleared ready for the new planting.
It was one of those days when the sunlight was spotlighting various plants.
Bulrushes
Vine leaf.
Yew berries.
A tiny, shiny red daisy-like flower in the alpine trough.
Hops
Grape vine clambering over the noticeboard.
I saw the gardener and asked if the grapes are edible. He said they are and he ate several of them. Having seen him eating them I felt safe to try one - a very nice grape (with a big seed in the middle).
Tiny red fuchsias.
Turning leaves.
Looking way up the yew tree at the vine scrambling through the branches.
Prairie plants in the sunshine.
Grasses.
The red tree-like flowers are turning to seed.
Looking closer at the seeds.
Long stems with red berries.
Looking closer at the grasses swaying in the breeze
and standing upright again.
Colourful leaves.
There are still quite a few bright flowers around.
Masses of purple Callicarpa berries.
Sweet chestnuts in the sunlight.
Leaves lit by the sun.
Fungus that looks like a flower.
Crumpled white petals.
More leaves catching the sunlight.
Tufty white flowers.
So many spindle berries waiting to open.
Cosmos flowers still going strong.
Pampas grass.
Tiny orange flowers.
The gardener was just about to dig the dahlias out. It seems such a shame as they are still so colourful but they need to be moved before any frost comes.
Thank you very much for joining me.
Such beauties in some glorious sunshine! i love the grasses against the blue sky, and of course the leaves are beautiful. Looking forward to going to Kew again tomorrow!!
