Arty journeys...

LITTLE ARTY JOURNEYS . . . LOOKING CLOSER, SEEING DEEPER.

Thursday 16 May 2019

Tuesday - a sunny Coombe Wood walk with a friend

A very enjoyable walk, cuppa and cake, and a birthday present swap between two ladies the same age, with birthdays a week apart in May.

Lovely reflections

Somewhere behind the greenery you might be able to catch a glimpse of the gardener at work.

He might be more visible if you zoom in on this one (towards the left).

Tulips fading - underplanting filling out...and all looking lovely.

Tiny pink flower

More tiny pink flowers. (Oh so technical!)

Bigger pink flowers - love the way the cistuses (or cisti - but that sounds funny to me) are so crinkly when they are opening up. Gorgeous colours too.

Lovely zingy green acer against the blue sky - stunning!

A sea of alliums opening up with the haze of honesty behind them. The little tree I mentioned a week or so ago is sprouting leaves at quite a rate now.

Judas tree flowers fading. I'm considering getting one of these for my garden.

Palm flowers forming.

Gorgeous Korean pine cone developing.

Little slender-leaved acer.

Rhododendrons (and more azaleas) opening up - so many colours!

Acer - tiny winged seeds forming.

More rhododendrons.

Strange flowers!

Lovely sugar pink rhododendron opening.

More pink but not a rhododendron this time.

Tree peony.

Blossom

Mock orange - buds just showing.

Life springing up in the herbaceous borders.

Past the tulips again - these are like flames lit by the sun.

I love the way the lemon tulips float above the rest.

We sat in the cafe courtyard enjoying our cuppa and cake. My hand was resting on the table - a robin came and sat so close to it. I didn't dare move! (not even to reach for my camera!) It was delightful to have the little robin sitting so close! After a little while it fluttered away but it came back for a few cake crumbs later.

A last look at the tulips

and a primula by the pond.

Thank you very much for joining me.
