My neighbour and I went to Kelsey Park yesterday. Where we came in there were three beds planted with ragged edged tulips and little red and white bellis (pom-pom-like) flowers underneath.

These are so comical (and beautiful).
The creatures are very tame - they are so used to being fed nuts and bread.

Interesting looking bird!
I was quite excited when we saw the three herons in the trees - from the other side we could see loads more. I've never seen so many all together like that. My friend counted 14 in the trees (there were definitely more further into the trees, hidden by all the foliage) and later we saw at least 5 more along the bank and in the water.

Assorted water birds were coming up to us to see if we had any food for them. Sadly not....we hadn't come prepared but plenty of other people were feeding them.
Can't resist more photos of herons! How fabulous to see them in a place like this instead of in gardens helping themselves to fish from our ponds.

I photographed what looked like an old nest - later I discovered it was in use and there were babies! (Not sure where one of their heads has gone!)

On the way back to the car we saw these. I'm not keen on yellow flowers (except daffodils and crocuses in spring) in my own garden but I wouldn't mind these. What a lovely soft yellow they are!
